Where Does Time Go?

Happy Monday friends.  I just realized that I didn't post at all last week...unintentionally.  Where does time go?  The good news about me not posting is that I have been a busy little bee at work.  My current position is transitioning- I am shedding a few of my current responsibilities and adding more valuable projects under the direction of Finance and the CFO!  I couldn't be more excited to embark on this new journey that will surely look great on my resume.

I have also been spending some quality time with the hubby.  Here are just a few of the mini dates we have been on in the past two weeks:

Riverdogs Game
My company sponsors a sky box at the Riverdogs Stadium.  Each division has the opportunity to take advantage of these amazing seats, the food, and game once a year.  Two Saturdays ago, we had our chance and the experience was nothing less than fantastic.  The hot dogs and hamburgers were on point, the breeze was perfect, and it was all around a great night for baseball!

Car Shopping
It's official...I have car fever and I am in love with the New Ford Explorers.  I test drove one a few weeks ago, and haven't been able to stop thinking about it since.  Bradley and I both agree that this will be a great car for when we start having kids.  I'm sure in a few weeks, there will be a post on my new car...hopefully!

Movies
We finally took the time to go see the box office hit, Ted.  This movie was hilarious- crass, but hilarious! Mark Wahlberg was the perfect actor to play alongside Seth MacFarlane as a teddy bear.  Definitely an adult must see!

What have you guys been up to?  I'm headed over to check out your new posts as well!

I'm Baaacckkk!

Hi friends!  I am back from a five day vacay in the City of Brotherly Love.  My husband's family lives in the area, and we were able to spend some quality time with his brother, sister-in-law, nephews, and niece.  I got caught up in all the fun that I didn't take a ton of pictures, but I will share what I did.

Wednesday
We arrived in the wee hours of the morning on Wednesday, so the 4th was spent relaxing and going to dinner.  It has been over a year since we have seen his brother and family, so most of the day was consumed with catching up on lost time!

Thursday
We took the opportunity to travel another hour to see Bradley's grandmother on Thursday, as well as one of his childhood friend's from the area.  We traveled around the city on I-95 to get there and I snapped a few pictures along the way!

After a nice visit with his grandmother, we met Todd for lunch at Steve's.  Steve's is a local small chain that has amazing philly cheesesteaks!
Cheesesteaks the original way!

YUM!

Friday
I think we brought the South Carolina heat with us on our trip to Philly.  Friday's record highs topped 100.  To keep cool, we all took a trip down the Brandywine River on a tubing adventure.  The scenery was gorgeous and the water was nice and cool.  Sadly, I didn't get any pictures because I didn't want my iPhone to take a dip in the water either!

After our trip down the Brandywine, we cleaned up for some fun at the ball park.  Bradley's brother got a few of his company's season tickets for the Phillies game!  I had never been to a game in Philly, and this was Bradley's first time at Citizen's Bank Park.

One of my favorites, Ryan Howard, came off the DL list just for us :)

Hot and sweaty, but still having a blast!

Saturday
We were so worn out from Friday's activities that we laid around on Saturday and rested.  Bradley's niece and I painted our fingernails, and the boys played ball.

Sunday
As sad as we were to say our goodbyes, we packed up and hit the road at 5 AM Sunday morning.  We had a great visit with family and friends, but boy were we excited to see the sign for our home state!

Weekend Shenanagins

Happy Monday, friends!  This was the second weekend in a row that we didn't have to go out of town, and I must say, a girl could get use to this.  It's nice not to have to hit the road out of town after an eight hour work day on Friday, just to dread the return on Sunday.

Friday night we met up with our friends, Dean and Jess, at a local barbeque shack for a yummy feast of pulled pork, hash, chicken, and all the fixings!  After we were induced into a food coma, we decided to catch a movie.  The four of us agreed on That's My Boy that actually premiered on Friday.  Adam Sandler was hysterically funny and I laughed the entire time....until the end that is.  If you  haven't seen this movie, I must warn you that the end takes a turn that no one expects and it's sickening.  For those of you who have seen you, you know what I'm talking about.  Not sure I will be seeing this one for a second time.

Saturday we met a few of my family members downtown for a nice stroll around the city before having dinner at Poogan's  Porch.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous for site seeing downtown and we enjoyed every minute of it!  Friends, if you have never  been to Poogan's Porch you are missing out!  It is a quaint Charlestonian home made restaurant that is tucked away on Queen Street.  Saturday was my first experience, and it is one of the best meals I have had in Charleston.  The atmosphere was perfect and the food was exceptional.  We will definitely be going back...and soon.

That evening we ventured back home to watch the South Carolina Gamecocks defeat the No. 1 team in the country to advance in the College World Series.  We dominated the Florida Gators 7-2.  GO GAMECOCKS!

Sunday was a nice relaxing day spent watching How I Met Your Mother re-runs and a few movies.

How did you spend your weekend?

Holiday Weekend Recap

Somehow I got lucky in the month of May.  Without planning it, this past weekend was my third three day weekend in a row...and it did not disappoint.  Tropical Storm Beryl didn't make it to where we are yet, so we were able to enjoy a nice, long, sunny, holiday weekend with the family.

Saturday afternoon we attended the beautiful wedding and reception of one of Bradley's high school friends.  The two were on the local Legion baseball team together and have been friends ever since.
The wedding and reception were both held at The Hill House in historic Abbeville, South Carolina.

We spent the whole day Sunday with my family eating until we were stuffed and enjoying the lake.

Monday was a day of relaxing.  I visited my grandmother, had lunch with my mom,
and even took a nap with my pup before heading back to Charleston.

I hope your long weekend was as fun and relaxing as mine!  Here's to a short week!

I Must Confess

  • I am truly, truly sad that all of my TV shows had their season finales this week and last- Private Practice, Grey's, and Revenge.  What's a girl to do during the week now?  Of course they all ended with cliff hangers, so I am just that much more excited for next season!
  • You all are going to hate me for my good luck fortune, but I won another giveaway yesterday.  It wasn't in blog land, but my for my Barre class. The instructor decided to have a drawing at the end of this session for those who came to every class. I was one of three in the drawing, and my lucky number 2 won me the next session for FREE ($100 value).
  • I made the Green Monster Spinach Smoothie for breakfast this morning and it was quite delicious.  I was nervous to try it, considering the combination of bananas, peanut butter, and spinach.  Contrary to my belief, it was delicious and I will be making more of these!

  • Even though I had Monday off work, this has been such a long week.  I did not ever think that we would get to Friday.  Thank goodness for another long weekend and time to spend with my family on the lake!
  • Mother Nature will be on my bad side if this tropical storm decides to ruin my Memorial Day weekend plans.  STAY AWAY!
I hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday weekend!  Stay out of trouble :)

Happy Friday

Happy Friday loves!  I am all packed up and ready to head to the beach for a nice long weekend.
My sister and I are hopping in the car this morning and will be in Myrtle Beach by noon.
Prayers for no rain this weekend so we can enjoy the sand, sun, and water....and my half of course :)

Monday Madness

Saturday's Cinco de Mayo celebration was just what the doctor ordered.  My friend Maureen and I enjoyed a few peaceful hours by the pool before preparing an AH-mazing Mexican feast for lunch complete with chicken enchiladas, beans, rice, corn, chips, salsa, and pomegranate margaritas!

Saturday evening the hubby and I cheered on the Berkeley Stags baseball team in the 1st game of the 2nd round of the playoffs!  Those boys played toughed, but lost 2-1.  Luckily, it's double elimination, so we will be out at the field again tonight hoping for a win to advance!

Today starts the two week vacation of my manager.  I don't know whether to be nervous or excited!  He has put me in charge of a few projects while he is away, so if I become MIA in the near future, you will understand why :).

Here's to making Monday the best it can be!

Recent Happenings

1.  I won my very first giveaway last week!  Samantha, from petite femme jolie, hosted a giveaway for her blog's one year anniversary.  I was the lucky winner, and she so kindly sent me a care package full of her favorite summer goodies including a deep conditioner, blueberry muffin mix (my fav), sleeping mask, facial towelettes, fingernail polish, press n' go fingernails, Saturbucks Via packets, and a few packets of paper soap!  Thanks so much Samantha for hosting this awesome giveaway, and for my very first win!

2.  I got to spend some good quality time with my grandmother this past weekend during my visit home.  She always puts a smile on my face and can make any day brighter!  I spruced up her nails, we got in some sun bathing, and even shared some time with my pup Levi!  Not too shabby for a 90 year old lady :)

3.  My sister and I embarked on a sissy shopping spree on Friday afternoon!  It's been a long time since the both of us were able to spend some time together, and this was the perfect opportunity.  What better way is there to spend time with your sister than shopping it up at the mall?  {PS...she just cut 10 inches off her hair and donated to Locks of Love.  Doesn't it look fabulous?}

4.  We welcomed another baby girl into the family this past weekend.  Maddie Lorraine was born Saturday morning, April 28!  Weighing in at 8 lbs 6 oz., this was a surprise to everyone since the doctor's prediction was only about 6 or 7 pounds.  And just look at that head full of gorgeous hair!

I hope your week is off to a great start already.  I'll be back tomorrow with a few Eat Clean recipes that I promised to you last week :)  Happy Monday!

Scenes from the Weekend

My weekend was pretty relaxing and low key!  I was able to spend some time with friends, shop, and cook...and catch a few photos on Instagram.

Friday night was very low key.  We stayed in and I cooked dinner- a new recipe from my Eat Clean diet regime (more to come on that later this week).  Nothing too exciting.

My friend Collins came into town on Saturday, and we were all set to have a beach day until we walked outside.  It was cloudy, wind was chilly, and the weatherman was calling for scattered showers all day.  So instead, we had lunch and spent the rest of the day at a baseball field.  Yup, five GIRLS spent over 7 hours at two different games!

We headed to the College of Charleston vs. Citadel baseball game at 3 PM.  This is a cross town rivalry, so it was a great game!  My friend Collins is an alum of C of C and they asked her to play "Name that Tune" in the middle of the 5th inning.  She got 2 out of 3 right and won 2 free pizzas from Papa John's!

That evening, we headed to watch the local minor league, The Riverdogs.  We scored great (free) tickets right behind home plate.

No zoom...great seats!

We LOVE baseball!

We were having a blast...until the storm clouds rolled in!

Once it started drizzling, we headed for shelter and ultimately decided to leave so we wouldn't get caught in the down pour.

Sunday was very low key.  We went to church and then I ran a few errands with a friend.  For dinner, we decided to have breakfast!  I whipped up a yummy egg frittata (for the first time) and served with salsa and turkey sausage.  It was fantastic!

Spinach and Tomato Frittata

After dinner, I settled down for my Sunday evening shows.  I have watched Army Wives since Season 1 because it is filmed in Charleston, and now I am a new fan of a Lifetime series, The Client List.  The Client List stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and is based on a Lifetime made for TV movie.  If you haven't seen either, you should check them out!

Happy Monday!  Hope your day flies by!

Outdoor Spring Wedding

This past weekend, Bradley and I traveled to the Upstate to attend our niece's beautiful wedding.
The ceremony was held outdoors at Connie Maxwell , and the reception was at the Sundance Galleries in Greenwood, SC.  It was a gorgeous, perfect day for an outdoor wedding!
