F is for Fall

...and for Fender too :)

I was able to hang this beauty on my front door last night, and it made me so excited!  October brings so many wonderful treats: cooler weather, college football, and warm colors. Is it a coincidence that F is the first letter of Fall and of my new last name?  I think not?!  Combining two of my favorite things into one :).

My sister and I had the brilliant idea of hitting up the local Hobby Lobby while I was at home this past weekend, and we decided to make fall wreaths.  With the help of creativity from Pinterest, I created the beautiful wreath pictured above for about $10.

Wreath                     $2.50
Floral Picks (3)     $3.00
Letter                        $0.99
Paint (2)                  $2.00
Burlap                      $2.00 (with plenty left over)
Hot glue gun          borrowed
Staple gun              already had

  • First, I used a "washed" technique to paint the "F".  I used a tan color as the base, and after it dried I applied a thin coat of the burgundy.  Before the burgundy was able to dry, I used a paper towel to wipe off most of the red.
  • Then, while I was waiting on the paint to dry, I cut the floral picks into smaller pieces and hot glued them onto the wreath.
  • Last, I cut a small piece of burlap, wrapped it around the wreath, and used a staple gun to attach it to the letter.

Check out my sister's creation too:
{please excuse the phone photo}

Along with my wreath, I also put out a few more treats at home for the Fall season:
{GOOOOOO Gamecocks}

{Pier 1 pumpkin I got for my birthday!}

And just a few more of the wreath, so you can get the whole effect:

I may be a little biased {or proud}, but I love it when a project is successful! Don't you just love the small touch of burlap?  To me, it screams Fall!  Thanks Pinterest for my inspiration.

Love the wreath! I'm heading to Michaels today in hopes of coming up with a wreath almost as cute as yours. I just found your cute blog from "hello happiness" and can't wait to read more :)
