Our Big Day: Bridal Portrats

Today marks our one year wedding anniversary.  Words can't describe how blessed I am to have a loving, caring husband who is also my best friend.  These past twelve months have flown by, and I wouldn't change a minute of it!  When I look back over this past year there has been plenty of laughter, a few tears, and a lot of growing- growing into a small family of our own, starting our own traditions, and settling into our first home together.  I am excited to see the next years as they unfold, mainly because I have him by my side.  Happy Anniversary babe!

For today's recap, I bring you my bridal portraits taken downtown Charleston, SC.  Since we had an early spring wedding and I wanted my bridal portraits taken outdoors, my photographer {Abby Funderburk} and myself thought it would be best to take them in the fall.  We worked with the seamstress at the boutique where I purchased my dress to be sure it would be ready by September 2010.  Take a look at a few of my favorites...OK maybe there are more than a few.

These ladies were my saving graces for the day.  They were there to touch up my hair/make up, 
fluff my dress, lay down sheets so it wouldn't get dirty, and boost my self confidence.  
This day would not have been successful without each and every one of them!

I must admit that we had way too much fun with my bridal portraits. For starters, I had to get dressed at the Battery so I wouldn't wrinkle my dress on the ride over.  If you have ever been to Charleston, you know that this was quite the task.  The lovely ladies above had to hold up sheets around me so all the tourists wouldn't get a peep show.  There was also a wedding taking place at the Battery the same time we arrived for the portraits.  As I was walking to meet my photographer, several people stopped to ask me why I was walking away from the ceremony!  The most interesting part of the day was when we decided that a gated back yard of an empty house was the perfect place for a few gorgeous shots.  We bypassed the trespassing sign on the front gates and surprisingly found them unlocked.  It's not everyday that a bride and her crew trespasses to capture her portraits!  It was the perfect day with my ladies and although I may be biased, it yielded some pretty amazing pictures.
